The Dutch Centre for German Idealism organizes the Conference:
INSTITUTIONS OF EDUCATION. THEN AND TODAY.
13 and 14 December 2007, Tilburg University, The Netherlands
The theme of the conference concerns both an adequate understanding of
adulthood, and the question in what institutional framework education to
adulthood can be shaped. The tradition of German Idealism is taken up to
reflect this problem. What demands, according this tradition, have to be met
to enable a successful education? And what are the lessons of this approach
for our time, which is characterized by multiculturalism and a variety of
educational institutions? Does it still make sense to assume that our
society orients itself to one conception of adulthood? Does it still has
educational institutions at its disposal that are supported by all?
