Hello everyone. I am writing to you to solicit your assistance with surveys I will be conducting shortly as part of my dissertation research.
I am a graduate student in the distance learning program at the University of Liverpool. My dissertation will investigate the key constructs of virtual classroom culture (both academic and corporate) and the contributions these elements make to learning outcomes and student satisfaction. I will be surveying both distance learning instructors and graduate students as a part of my research.
I am seeking agreement to post survey invitations into your instructor and graduate student virtual lounges and (if possible) your virtual classrooms. Please note that I'm looking for participants who teach/participate in courses conducted completely online (versus hybrid courses). The surveys will be anonymous, accessible via SurveyMonkey or SurveyGizmo and available in early-mid January 2008. The posted invitations will be quite brief, pointing the potential participants to a blog page which will provide more information on my research along with links to the actual surveys. If you would be willing to post invitations at your institution, I would sincerely appreciate hearing from you now, to help me get a sense of how many universities might be willing to take part in this study.
Please email me at
debbiejohnston@bluebirdlearning.com if you would be able to post a survey invitation. Alternatively, if there is another individual at your university to whom I should send my request, I would appreciate any contact information you might be able to provide.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this note, and for any assistance you can provide.
Debbie Johnston
