I would be grateful for pointers to any prior literature that explores the role of prior organizational knowledge in the effectiveness of learning and teaching on organizational topics.
There are many collaborative learning initiatives, usually in the final year of a degree program, that by using interships, practicums, and other kinds of real life work placements focus on producing a "workplace-ready" graduate. However, my interest is a year or two earlier in the process.
I have the notion that if students had greater prior awareness of the social complexities (and even disorders) in real life organizations, they would be better able to engage deeply with the course content in organizationally centered topics, and might understand better how to adapt this material to a variety of situations.
Seasons greetings to you all.
