    Colleagues,

One of my students, in an advanced grad course on the Pyschology of
Individual and Group Decision-Making, wants to do her project/seminar on
what's coming out of the neurosciences about cognition. Any suggestions
of articles, authors, web sources, etc., would be most welcome.

    My apologies for cross-posting.

If her focus is on decision-making, she might be interested in Glannon (Bioethics and the Brain), Tancredi (Hardwired Behavior) and Gazzaniga (The Ethical Brain).

One of the most important developments in this field is our increasing understanding of how inseparable are emotion and cognition. An excellent starting point for this literature is the review article by Phelps.

Phelps, E. A. 2006. Emotion and cognition: Insights from Studies of the Human Amygdala. Annual Review of Psychology, 57(1): 27-53.

A highly influential article on the implications of this emerging understanding for decision-making is

Damasio, A. R. 1994. Descartes' error: Emotion, reason and the human brain. . New York: Putnam.

A discussion of the implications for economic decision making can be found in

Bechara, A. & Damasio, A. 2005. The somatic marker hypothesis: a neural theory of economic decision. Games and Economic Behavior, 52(336-372).
