I guess the old addage that the price of freedom is eternal vigilance holds true in many areas.
You mentioned below that "We need more threes" and I assume that you mean "more Cs", from a strictly critical mind perspective.

Regarding your recent AMLE article, I think that it is clear the AOM lobbyists have captured our management journals and this accounts for the dysfunctions in our publishing systems. This is the trend for any publishing system that allows poorly trained professionals to edit and review studies that they do not understand. We need much better gatekeepers.
At the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, we assumed three kinds of psychology departments: (a) They weighted publications, (b) They counted publications or (c) They read articles critically. We need more threes.
You are proposing a game-changing strategy to achieve your standards, e.g., "Has the scholar asked an important question and investigated it in such a way that it has potential to advance societal understanding and well being? I've supported such efforts for the past 40+ years.
