Dear Colleagues,
I have completed a literature review and I am doing some additional exploratory research for what I believe will become an extended study of postsecondary, faculty performance evaluation. Obviously, there are numerous, varied processes and practices used to evaluate postsecondary faculty. What I am most interested in at this point is the underlying purpose(s), or essential reasons for the phenomenon.
The intent of this post is to compare the issues inherent in faculty performance evaluation, that I gleaned from the literature review, to the points of view that may be generated from this listserve and other sources so that the issues can be studied.
It would be greatly appreciated if you could take a few moments to briefly jot down your primary thoughts (preferably in list or bulleted form) regarding the following questions. If you prefer to send me a private email, snail mail, or call me, my contact information is listed below.
1. What are the essential outcomes/expectations you have for evaluation of faculty performance?
2. Have you ever been evaluated (as faculty) in a manner in which you think that your performance was accurately and fairly assessed? If yes, can you describe the format?
Thanks in advance!
Pat
