Transforming Business Education series as hosted by IHMA as a Pedagogical Development format. It is co-sponsored by Fordham University's Gabelli School of Business. Topic for this Conversation: Towards a Humanistic School of Organizing
Please join Martin Parker for a conversation about how to change business school education to align with his proposals for a school of organizing. Prof. Parker is a leading authority in the rethinking of business education. The conversation, facilitated by Michael Pirson (Fordham University, Director of the Center for Humanistic Management), and author of Humanistic Management (Cambridge, 2017), will explore what we can do to move towards a more enlightened and enlivening form of education, not only for managers of business organizations but organizers in general.
Speaker Bio I started working at Bristol in 2018, after posts at Staffordshire, Keele, Warwick and Leicester Universities. My academic qualifications are in anthropology and sociology, and I like making connections between management and other disciplines in the social sciences, arts and humanities. Pretty much everything I can do is shaped by a sense of the politics of organizing and culture, and my sense that ideas about management always need to be analysed critically. I used to edit the journal Organization and am currently lead for the Bristol Inclusive Economy Initiative.
