The 8th International Conference on New Business Models continues to serve as a leading platform for spirited dialogue and debate in the field of sustainable business models. Embedding sustainability principles within the different components of business models remains essential for changing the way our society addresses the most pressing challenges. The beginning of this decade has transformed the way we used to live, work, interact, do business and co-exist. While the impact of the COVID 19 crisis is still ongoing, we gradually reflect on our collective preparedness to navigate through global challenges including epidemics and pandemics, wars, migration/refugee crises, climate change and various other social and environmental issues that we might face.
NBM has positioned itself as a solid academic community in the field of sustainability. Our ambition with NBM2023 is to raise more awareness about the importance of extending the dominating paradigm from sustaining to regenerating. We advocate for a more holistic view on sustainability in businesses. Not only by rethinking our approach and understanding of sustainability, but also by enabling mutually beneficial collaborations that can lead to more resilient and regenerative business models in favour of a more equitable, prosperous, and sustainable tomorrow. We look forward to seeing you at the School of Business Economics at Maastricht University, during a wonderful NBM2023!
Conference Tracks and Type of Submissions
Our conference offers 15 different tracks, which allows participants to contribute to our ongoing academic debate from different angles. This includes exploration at the system level, organizational level, organizational impact and exploring methodological and theoretical foundations. A detailed description of all the different tracks can be found here: https://www.newbusinessmodels.org/tracks2023
Authors are invited to submit extended abstracts (700 – 1200 words), short papers (approx. 2500 words) or full papers (up to 6000 words) until 1st of February 2023 through the registration and submission system (ConfTool).
All accepted and timely (re-)submitted contributions (when needed) will be referenced in the conference proceedings. Contributions must be submitted to one of the proposed track sessions mentioned below. Authors should refer to the submission guidelines and templates available at the NBM2023 website.
Doctoral Colloquium + funding for doctoral students
The NBM conference organization believes nurturing doctoral students is key to growing the community and the field. As such, it aims to open possibilities for doctoral students to attend the NBM2023 conference in Maastricht in person (including the doctoral colloquium). Thus, in collaboration with the Society for the Advancement of Management Studies (SAMS), we are pleased to announce that we will offer travel grants for doctoral students (€500) to cover travel expenses and conference fees.
