Award-winning workers' voices will present in person in 2 Academy sessions. The Coalition of Immokalee Workers' (CIW's) Gerardo Rivera will explain how Worker-Driven Social Responsibility (WSR) won a Presidential award for effectively combatting workplace enslavement. WSR is now being adopted internationally. The CIW is paired with the decades-long successes of the Institute of Socio-Economic Organizational Research (ISEOR) in foregrounding workers' voices. The Saturday 1-3 PDW will offer hands-on practice in interview methods including conversational storytelling. Both the PDW and Panel sessions will feature interactive participation and Q&A.
How is the CIW's Worker-Driven Social Responsibility so successful where so many others have failed?
What is the role of managers and consultants in worker-driven processes?
How can we as academics support these efforts?
